I don’t have it written down. I just googled ‘SEIKI region free codes’ or something like that, and I eventually found it on a forum for digital entertainment.

@AlandoBlanco I bought this when it was on sale last year for $49 and gave it to my parents for Christmas. Great player and can play just about anything you throw at it.

I have a sony player region free for dvd but locked region B for Blu-ray, and your right, there are very few models, if any that are ‘hackable’ via a code, your only option it seems is having a chip installed to bypass the region code. Luckily ….so far anyhow all the disks Ive bought have been region free. If I find more of the nice releases are region locked I may consider a region free player in the future but for now Im happy.
I wish i could do this to my PlayStation 3 which i use as my Blu-ray player because it’s so annoying that i can’t import all movies from overseas. a lot of Blu-rays are region-free, but some aren’t (including some i really want)
why can’t it all just be one and the same? it’s 2011.. there’s no fucking need for all this region bullshit any more. there never was.

No, no purchased imports as it stands now. That’s for collectors like you. But I’m now ready to ‘win’ more BDs from you and your collector friends. AND…whenever I get back to London, and I do hope to go again in the next couple of years, as well as back to Australia before I’m planted, I’ll be ready to purchase anything without a trauma about it.

@memine230 hey just a follow up I checked this again and that was actually a sticker I think they put on it after it was modded, under the sticker is just region A.
These 470′s are the hardest disc players to unlock. Sony are such tightwads with this & their FAT32 restriction. There are no unlock codes so don’t even think about looking for one. There are, however, a series of hacks requiring a One For All URC remote to execute. But as far as I know these hacks only guarantee region free playback for DVD. Unsure about blu-ray.

@memine230 no idea! that’s why I went with buying one that was promised to be unlocked, so I didn’t have to do the work haha. sorry I can’t be of more help.the sticker on the back says “Code free, Multi-zone ABC.”
@KissCover2009 I’m honestly not sure. I bought mine from ebay where they guaranteed it to already be unlocked…but I wouldn’t know how to tell if the one you buy is or not. Sorry I can’t be of more help!

@hanshotfirst1138 I believe so, with a lot of regular dvd players its as simple as a remote control combination, but with blu-ray from what I understand its a hardware modification. I could be wrong, but I wanted to play it safe and get one that was guaranteed to work.
@criticnic So basically, if you want a region-free Blu-Ray player you can’t just do it yourself, you’ve got to order it from someone else who’s done it?

Your BD player is region A, can it playback region B and C?
@thedarknesstelie you have to make sure its already been modded to play any region (if you want it for that), and check with the whoever you’re buying it from to make sure everything’s there. Also, if you do want to play other region discs, you will need to make sure your TV can play multi-region stuff..I think most newer tv’s can but if not there is a converter box out there that might be needed. thanks for watching!

Cool stuff buddy! I need to look into a newer player that is region free. That streaming Netflix looks way better than on computer or through the Wii.
